Canadian government and partners invest in HIV Cure research



The government of Canada has announced that CIHR, in partnership with CANFAR and IAS, will jointly fund two HIV Cure research initiatives based in Montréal. Dr. Hugo Soudeyns (CHU Sainte-Justine) will lead the EPIC4 (Early Pediatric Initiation - Canada Child Cure Cohort) Study Group focused on curing infants infected with HIV during their mother's pregnancy. Dr. Éric Cohen (IRCM) will lead the CanCURE collaboratory in developing new therapies aimed at curing HIV patients. CanCURE's comprehensive project will involve the efforts of 26 Canadian investigators and also an AIDS Community Liaison. Their members sincerely thank CIHR, CANFAR, and IAS for their valuable support in their endeavours.
