Pilot projects bring new members to the CanCURE consortium

Pilot projects have been integrated to the CanCURE research program for the 2017-18 period. These innovative projects will introduce concepts and address questions in the field of HIV Cure research which are new to the Team's scientific endeavours. Moreover, the projects will be conducted by current CanCURE Investigators, but also by Drs. Mohammad-Ali Jenabian, (Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM)),Cecilia Costiniuk (McGill University) and Fabien Touzot (Centre hospitalier universitaire (CHU) Sainte-Justine Research Centre) who have now formally joined CanCURE as new members of the Team. The pilot projects they will pursue are:

  • A pilot assessment of the alveolar macrophages and pulmonary tissue resident T cells as HIV reservoirs in ART-treated HIV-infected adults (THEME 1 project), by Drs. Mohammad-Ali Jenabian, Cecilia Costiniuk,Nicolas Chomont, Jean-Pierre Routy​

  • Gene Editing of Stem Cells for cure of HIV-1 infection(THEME 3 project) by Drs. Fabien Touzot & Elie Haddad
