New pilot studies integrated to CanCURE's scientific program

Pilot projects have been integrated to the CanCURE research program for the 2016-17 period. These innovative projects will introduce concepts and address questions in the field of HIV Cure research which are new to the Team's scientific endeavours. These projects will be conducted by CanCURE Investigators Dr. Petronela Ancuta (CHUM Research Centre, Montréal) and Dr. Jean-Pierre Routy (Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre, Montréal), as well as by Dr. Reina Bendayan (University of Toronto). The pilot projects they will pursue are:

Diurnal variations in HIV-1 reservoir size and latency reversal potential in circulating monocytes and CD4+ T cells: implication for HIV eradication (THEME 1 project) by Drs. Petronela Ancuta & Jean-Pierre Routy

Functional expression of antiretroviral drug transporters and metabolic enzymes in HIV-1 myeloid cellular reservoirs - Potential contribution to HIV persistence (THEME 1 & THEME 2 project)by Dr. Reina Bendayan
